Supporting those that support our communities

In Addition to aiding first responders in overcoming work-induced traumas, our team offers support in crucial areas such as relationship dynamics, substance abuse, anger management, stress management, and chronic pain. Along with the EMDR modality, we include proven holistic methods such as Mindfulness Technique Practices, Guided Meditation for nervous system regulation and improved sleep, Neurofeedback, and sessions involving partners, groups, and families.

Critical incidents at work can result in Acute Stress Disorder (ASD), which can last from 2 to 30 days, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) if it continues beyond a month. Such traumatic experiences can lead to moral injury, ASD, PTSI, and PTSD. Affected individuals often relive these traumatic memories and tend to avoid situations that remind them of the incident. Such triggering events can provoke reactions of flight, fight, or freeze. These disorders can compromise the efficiency and performance of first responders. The ramifications extend beyond their professional life, impacting their relationships with loved ones and the wider community.

When to seek professional guidance

Support from loved ones often aids in trauma recovery, but healing alone is challenging. While some overcome Acute Stress Disorder through personal coping and support, lingering distress after a month could indicate PTSD.

EMDR therapy, a proven treatment for PTSD, along with evidence-based Mindfulness Technique Practices can help restore normalcy at work and home.

The Mindfully Well Collective holds comfort and compassion for the intricacies surrounding psychological wellness for the first responder community and their loved-ones. We focus on addressing the unique challenges faced on a regular basis along with how to intentionally shift back in to a calm state of being.
